Stacy Potter

As Stacy Margolin, my training began as a professional tennis player from 1977-1987. I competed in 25 Grand Slam Championships, including 8 Wimbledon Championships and 10 U.S. Open Championships, with victories over many top 10 players, reaching a singles ranking of #18 in the world.

While attending the University of Southern California, I won the National Collegiate Singles Title as a freshman and the National Collegiate Team championships the following year, playing the #1 position. Coming off the tour, I coached the Women’s Tennis Team at Pomona College.

I then completed studies at U.C.LA. and received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I worked at The Rader Institute for 12 years as an Eating Disorders Counselor and certified as an Eating Disorders Specialist. Television appearances as an expert in that field, included Suzanne Sommers and The Regis Philben Show.
In 1995, I moved to Ojai and in 1996, married Mr. Ian Potter. For the past 20 years, with my husband by my side, we operate “Trails by Potter”, a hiking, biking, and rock climbing service throughout the Ojai Valley and Ventura (www.hikingojai.com).

Also in 1995, at The Oaks at Ojai Spa, I initiated a consulting service called Balanced Eating & Lifestyle, which I conducted for 14 years. I also began lecturing there in nutrition, wellness, stress management, eating and exercise behavior, nutrition and menopause, improving body image, relationships and motivation.

While I continue to lecture at The Oaks, I also hold the position of Nutrition Consultant at The Weil Tennis Academy, a premier training center for top World ranked juniors.
During my years post-tour, I struggled with injuries and finding the balance between my exercise, food, weight, work, relationships, and managing stress. Seeking outside support, as well as benefiting from professional help have been invaluable tools to finally feeling a balance that I am happy with, while continuing to grow and share my experience and knowledge with others.
Even though my competing days are over, I still enjoy teaching tennis, providing clinics to local youth and having a hit myself weekly. I completed 2 Half Marathons but these days prefer shorter runs and enjoy doing yoga. For solitary moments, I love saunas and walking my fur child, Luey. Luey boy and I love to travel and a few years ago I got to complete a dream trip to hike Machu Picchu and this year to Bora Bora.

I also lend my Integrative Nutrition & Health services to Ojai Cares, the only non-profit community-based organization providing comprehensive cancer support services to the Ojai Valley.
As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I received my training from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. As a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I have studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts including: Dr. Andrew Weil, director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine, Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University’s Prevention Center and Green Roth, best-selling author and expert on emotional eating, and many others.

To make sure I stay current on all health research and news, I actively attend continuing education coursework in functional nutrition, digestion, wellness and gut-brain connection as well as provide lectures and workshops in health-related businesses.
