Vitality Method – Medical Qigong for Health and Wellness
Qigong (pronounced Chee- Gong) are exercises that developed in ancient China as early as 3,000 B.C. Qi, meaning vital life force or energy, and Gong, meaning skill or work, are exercises that improve our energy and affect both our mental, emotional, and physical body. The Vitality Method, also called Bu Zheng Qigong, is a medical qigong practice suitable for people at all stages of life. As taught by Dr. Roger Jahnke, OMD (IIQTC.org), we learn that in Chinese Medicine there is an understanding that the best medicine we can find, is created by “The Healer Within.” Practiced standing, sitting, or lying down, we use Qigong movements, breathe practice, self-applied massage/reflexology, and meditation to help the body to shift from a fight-or-flight stressful Sympathetic state, to a relaxed Parasympathetic state.
In this class, we learn how to practice these techniques, some of the supporting information, and most of all, we get to experience how our body responds to these exercises. Some of the benefits that people often experience (even with one session) are a reduction of pain, increased energy, improved detoxification, reduced stress, reduced inflammation, increased oxygen levels, improved circulation, and many more.
Instructor Andrew Ogden, a native of Ojai, is a Reiki Master, Qigong and Tai Chi Instructor, and is training to be a Certified Massage Therapist. In each session Andrew seamlessly communicates his understanding of teachings from many traditions, blending Western knowledge with Eastern wisdom into a dynamic practice.
